Sophie Loidolt is professor of philosophy at TU Darmstadt. Since her student days in Vienna she has been interested in the relationship between experience, intersubjectivity, and world. The phenomenological tradition—from Husserl through French phenomenology to Arendt—provides her with the tools for this inquiry. One of her primary areas of focus is political phenomenology. Research stays in Leuven, Paris, New York, Copenhagen, and Buenos Aires have enriched her scholarly exchange. She is a former president of the German Society for Phenomenological Research and co-editor of the Deutsche Zeitschrift für Philosophie, as well as the host of a philosophy radio program on Austrian public radio. She is currently working on a philosophical introduction to Arendt’s work and on a book on the phenomenology of the public realm.
